THE EXTERMINATING ANGELS
**NOW AVAILABLE ON DVD**"outrageous" Peter Bradshaw, THE GUARDIAN "a cerebral skin flick... Suave and salacious" A. O. Scott, NEW YORK TIMES "unabashedly erotic... the execution is hypnotic" CHICAGO TRIBUNE THE EXTERMINATING ANGELS is the second part of filmmaker provocateur Jean-Claude Brisseau's (Choses Secretes, A l'Aventure) startling trilogy exploring societal taboos. Director Francois (Frederic van den Driessche) is fascinated by the mystery surrounding women and sexual pleasure. Intent on making a film about the subject, he auditions a series of actresses, encouraging them to enact their most secret, forbidden desires. Watched over by two fallen angels, Francois' immersion into the world of his performers' fantasies threatens to destroy him. Brisseau's sexually charged film, whose philosophical inquiry into pleasures of the flesh is often leavened by his sly humour, is a provocative and intense experience. Bonus features include an interview with director Jean-Claude Brisseau and editor Maria Luisa Garcia, a deleted scene, with an introduction by Brisseau, and stills gallery. |
