Axiom Picks Up Trio of New Titles
11/09/2008
UK producer / distributor Axiom Films concludes the acquisition of three new titles for distribution at the Toronto Film Festival (TIFF).

THE SEA WALL: widely praised following its world premiere as a Special Presentation at TIFF, director Rithy Panh’s period epic is set in 1931 in French Indochina and is an adaptation of Marguerite Duras’s novel Un Barrage Contre le Pacifique with a leading performance by Isabelle Huppert.

SUGAR: the acclaimed new film from Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden, the writer / director partnership behind the Oscar nominated Half Nelson, which Axiom successfully released in the UK. Featuring a stand-out performance by the non-actor, Algenis Pérez Soto, Sugar premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January and will be released by Sony Pictures Classics in the US.

GOODBYE SOLO: the impressive third film from the young highly regarded US independent filmmaker, Ramin Bahrani (Man Push Cart and Chop Shop) - and winner of the FIPRESCI Award - International Critics’ Week, Venice Film Festival.

These acquisitions mark a busy period for the company, whose recent production, Broken Lines featuring Paul Bettany was also the sole British film at the Venice Film Festival this year.
